The Warsaw girls basketball team is the #1 team in the state in this week's Indiana Basketball Coaches' Association Poll for the first time since November of 2003, and right away they will face a challenge from their rivals from Middlebury. In their first game in 22 years as the #1 girls team in Indiana, Warsaw will host Northridge Saturday night in the Tiger Den. The JV game is scheduled to start at 6:15. Warsaw is fresh off a stretch of basketball where they won the Hall of Classic over Evansville Central and then-#1 Norwell by beating them both by the "mercy rule", topped Fairfield at the Hoosier Gym, and won their own Lady Tiger Tournament by beating Peru, Ritter and Columbia City in games that ended with a running clock. Northridge is 14-4 and tied for #13 in Sunday night's poll, and is the only significant challenge to Warsaw in the NLC race. Warsaw has won 32 straight conference games and 27 straight home games.
