Former Warsaw football coach Ted Huber passed away Tuesday at the age of 83. Huber coached the Tigers for seven seasons--from 1988 through 1994--winning 31 games and posting seven-win seasons in 1990 and 1992. He is 5th on the all-time Tiger win list. He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1997. While a Bremen Lion, Huber was a three-year letter winner in football, co-captain and team MVP and All-Northern Lakes Conference selection. He was a man of all seasons, earning 12 major letters in 4 sports. The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, January 25, 2026 in Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home with Rev. Daniel Niezer officiating. Private burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery. "Over the course of his remarkable career, Ted served as a head football coach at Hamilton Heights, Norwell, Bloomington South, and Warsaw Community High School, as well as an assistant coach at the collegiate level at Indiana University and Ball State University. His teams were known not only for their success on the field — including undefeated seasons and long-awaited conference championships — but for their discipline, toughness, and character. Ted believed football was a classroom, and every practice, meeting, and game was an opportunity to instill lessons that extended far beyond Friday nights. "Ted’s impact reached far beyond the sidelines. He was a past president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association and later served with distinction as the IFCA Executive Secretary, a role in which he worked tirelessly to support coaches across the state and strengthen the profession he loved. A devoted steward of football history, Ted authored The History of the Indiana Football Coaches Association, ensuring that the stories and contributions of Indiana coaches would be preserved for future generations. "His lifelong dedication to coaching and leadership earned him some of the highest honors in the sport, including induction into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, the Ball State University Athletic Hall of Fame, and the prestigious National Coaches Hall of Fame — recognitions that reflect not only his success, but the profound respect he commanded nationwide. "Yet, beyond the accolades and accomplishments, Ted will be remembered most for who he was. He was a devoted husband to Maureen, a loving father to Kelly and Dan, and a proud grandfather to Zachary, Austin, Noah, Owen, Dan, and Kristi.
