Boys Volleyball Loses First Ever Home Match

The Warsaw Varsity Men’s Volleyball Team made history Tuesday night, hosting its first-ever home match in the Tiger Den. In front of an energetic home crowd, the Tigers battled aggressively against an experienced Fort Wayne Carroll squad, ultimately falling in three hard-fought sets, 20-25, 19-25, 22-25. From the first serve, Warsaw showed a strong balance of offensive pressure and defensive determination. Miles Rager led the attack with 9 kills, followed by Fin Bailey with 7, Logan Carl with 3, and Ricky Anacleto, Deniel Ruzza, and Levi Brath each contributing 2. Setter Andy Vass commanded the offense, dishing out 23 assists. Defensively, the Tigers refused to back down, with Deniel Ruzza recording a game-high 25 digs, Rager adding 17, and Anacleto picking up 12. At the net, Rager led the blocking effort with 3, while Carl added 2, and Anacleto and Brath each had 1. Despite the loss, Head Coach Fleming was proud of his team’s fight. “I was very proud of how well our team worked to challenge every ball. Our aggressive play kept us in every set, and as we continue to grow, that intensity will only improve.” With the loss, Warsaw moves to 1-1 on the season and looks to carry its relentless style of play into Thursday’s varsity matchup against Elkhart. JV Result Warsaw’s JV volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday night in the Tiger Den, falling to Fort Wayne Carroll in straight sets, 14-25 and 13-25. Despite the setback, several Tigers contributed solid performances. Maclain Tucker led the team with 3 assists, while Ryan Carns added 2 assists. Offensively, Cale Meridew recorded 3 kills and 3 digs, Nolan Haussmann chipped in 2 kills and 2 digs, and Ben Harlan tallied 3 kills. Defensively, Patryck Bocianski finished with 3 digs. The Tiger JV squad now holds a 1-1 record as they prepare for Thursday’s matchup against Elkhart High School.
