Tiger Baseball Beats NorthWood, Takes Big Step Toward NLC Title

Warsaw used Grady Nelson's power and an almost perfect performance from their bull pen to beat NorthWood Wednesday night at Tiger Field. The win keeps Warsaw in first place in the NLC at 9-2 in league play. Nelson flexed his muscles with a 2-run home run in the 3rd. Reed Nelson come on in relief of starter Brandt Martin and got the second out in the fifth. Brock Bowser got the final 7 outs. Nelson and Bowser did not allow a run or hit, and struck out 5 batters in 2 2/3 innings. Martin allowed 3 unearned runs and scattered 4 hits in 4 1/3 innings. Kellen Bailey had 2 hits, got on base 3 times and scored twice. Quinton Brock was 2-3 at the plate. The junior varsity lost at Boggs to NorthWood 7-2. Warsaw will play Northridge Friday in another critical NLC matchup.
