Warsaw Stuns Snider in Varsity Football Season Opener

5A #9 Warsaw went into the city of Fort Wayne Friday night and knocked off the Snider Panthers 38-30. In a back-and-forth affair, Snider scored with 4:12 left and converted a 2-point conversion to tie the game at 30. But the Tigers responded, scoring on a 5-yard run by Brody Duncan with 1:29 to go. Tucker Reed ran for 2, putting the Tigers up by 8. Snider moved the ball inside the Warsaw 25, but Parker Sweet picked off a last-second lob pass to secure the win. Michael Schenck led the Tiger rushing attack with 14 carries for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wyatt Harman carried the ball just 5 times but for 114 yards, including a 76 yard score. Warsaw rushed for 462 yards on the night. All 20 of their first downs were via running plays. Warsaw will host 6A top-10 foe Warren Central Friday at 7:30.
