The Warsaw Unified Tigers battled hard on Monday night in Waterloo but fell to the Dekalb Barons 48-25. The Tigers struggled to contain Dekalb’s aerial attack, as the Barons’ quarterback consistently found open receivers. Despite the defensive challenges, Warsaw showed fight throughout the contest, delivering several highlight moments. Yohannes Schmitt, Drew Jones, and Mason Anderson all found the end zone for the Tigers, delivering key scores that kept the game competitive into the second half. Kelsey Wrenn also provided a spark when she marched the Tigers down the field with confidence and capped off the drive with a touchdown pass, igniting the Warsaw sideline. Nathan Nette then came through with the extra-point conversion, leading to a massive celebration in the endzone. After the game, Coach Bricker praised the effort and resilience of his squad despite the loss. "Our team knew that Dekalb was going to be a great test," Coach Bricker said. "Their quarterback is the best we will see all year. I was proud of Nathan Nette's performance once again. Nathan has a nose for the end zone and if he gets going, it is hard for opponents to stop him. I love how our kids represented our school and community. We have tremendous character on this team." The Tigers are in action once again on Wednesday at Fisher Field against Northwood.
