Both the Warsaw girls and boys rugby teams played matches over the weekend. The girls pulled away late in the first half and posted a 50-10 win over Berkely at home Saturday. They are 3-1 on their season with a home match Saturday at 1pm. Warsaw's boys participated in the Rugby 7s tournament in Elkhart On Sunday, October 5th. This was the third in a series of four tournaments for Fall Rugby. Warsaw faced Noblesville in the opening game and got off to a bright start with a Try from Liam Smith. There was good rucking and tackling across the team. Warsaw kept pressure on Noblesville. Noblesville found gaps to cross the Try line. Noblesville had additional substitutes which brought extra energy to the game. The final score was Noblesville 35 Warsaw 5. Warsaw‘s next game was against Homestead, a strong physical and athletic side. Warsaw competed well and contained Homestead for large parts of the game. Warsaw once again had a Try from Liam Smith and this kept them in contention. However, Homestead’s power put more points on the scoreboard. The final score was Homestead 25 Warsaw 10. The final game saw Warsaw against Penn. Warsaw matched them tactically throughout the opening stages. Waylon Turpin got the opening Try for Warsaw and this was followed up soon after with a second Try. The final score was Penn 30 Warsaw 12. Warsaw’s final festival this weekend at Moose Rugby in Elkhart.
