Boys Rugby "7's" Wins Two of Three in Midwest Festival

Warsaw Boys Rugby competed in the Midwest Rugby 7s festival this weekend. Warsaw 25 Homestead 17 This was the best game of the Fall season for Warsaw. All players have developed in their performance and showed enormous progress in skills. They shined in tackling and rucking and protecting the ruck. With just over one minute played Waylon Turpin opened the scoring with a Try. This was followed a minute later with a try from Liam Smith. Homestead broke through for a Try, but Warsaw soon regained command. Tries followed from Oren Henn, Liam Smith and Luis Martinez. Warsaw 24 Noblesville 21 This was the biggest battle of the day for Warsaw. They showed true character and grit to come out on top. Within the first minute Liam Smith crossed the line for a Try. The conversion was scored by Luis Martinez. Liam Smith once again tan through for a Try in the second minute to give Warsaw a clear lead. Noblesville responded with a Try and conversion. On the ninth minute, Liam Smith made a long run for Try. The conversion was scored by Luis Martinez. Liam crossed for a game winning Try on the 11th minute to give Warsaw victory. Zionsville 22 Warsaw 17 Warsaw improved steadily with each performance. Their defense was rock solid as they faced a very athletic Zionsville squad. The Warsaw tackling prevented Zionsville from breaking through on many occasions. The opening score came in the first minute with a Try from Liam Smith. Waylon Turpin followed with a Try on three minutes and Liam Smith closed out the scoring on 10 minutes. The conversion was scored by Luis Martinez. Luck appeared to fall on Zionsville’s side as they scored a fortunate Try late in the game to deny Warsaw of 3 victories. This is the first time Warsaw has competed in Fall Rugby and this has been a magnificent success. The team has developed strongly and sets us up for Spring Rugby season.
